Great Mam-Ma's Cornbread Dressing
This is a family recipe by Nana's Mom & Kym and Karyn's Grandmother... ( Bertha Alma Iola Gray Hefley )
The DRESSING everyone wants for the Holidays. (Thanksgiving and Christmas)
This is a very SMALL recipe. I usually make a lot more than this list calls for.
Note Substitutes in Directions for Cornbread and Bisquits.

Ingredients
1 Small Slillet Cornbread
1 teaspoon sage However I use more sometimes!
2 tablespoons butter
1 Large onion Chopped in small pieces
4 Large buttermilk biscuits You can use Kentucky Fried Ckn Bisquits
1 can Chicken Soup with Rice
3 Whole eggs
1 cup chicken broth
1 pinch salt Season to Taste
1 pinch pepper Season to Taste
1 Large Crisco Greased Pan
1 package mushrooms sliced - These are OPTIONAL
1 teaspoon sage However I use more sometimes!
2 tablespoons butter
1 Large onion Chopped in small pieces

1 can Chicken Soup with Rice
3 Whole eggs
1 cup chicken broth
1 pinch salt Season to Taste
1 pinch pepper Season to Taste
1 Large Crisco Greased Pan
1 package mushrooms sliced - These are OPTIONAL
How to Do it!
Preheat oven to 375 to 400
Grease Large Pan or a Aluminum Foil disposable pan
In a VERY LARGE bowl. ( I like to use a Large Silver Bowl ) combine:
Chicken Soup with Rice, Sage, Onions, Butter, Eggs and Salt and Pepper.
Mix until well blended.
Add Cornbread and Bisquits
Mix with HANDS .... Don't use a mixer or spoon... You MUST mix with your HANDS!
If adding optional mushrooms add them at this time.
Add Chicken Broth as needed to make the dressing Juicy , not dry... It must JIGGLE when the bowl is shaked.
If too dry add more chicken broth - not too much just a little at a time, mix and then try to jiggle again.
TASTE IT.... Everything is basically cooked but you want to taste a little bit to make sure your seasoning is right.
Pour into Pan and Bake for at least 30 mins. The edges will start to get brown and the top will be crusty-like.
When a knife inserted in center comes out clean it is done.
NOTE:
I usually make a lot more than this recipe yeilds. I double , even triple the recipe.
Make sure if you do this that you make your Homemade Bisquits and Cornbread in advance.
You can only make as much as you have cornbread and bisquits.
Substitutes:
BISQUITS:
If I don't have time to make mam-mas homemade bisquits then buy 24 from Kentucky Fried Chicken. Theirs seems to be the closest to home made.
You might also use pre-made FROZEN buttermilk bisquits. ( You must cook them first before adding to dressing )
Do NOT use CANNED BISQUITS you will not get the same results.
CORNBREAD:
Cornbread can be made from Martha Whites YELLOW PACKAGE from Walmart. Check ingredients.... NO SUGAR ... Make sure NO SUGAR is in the ingredients!
I always use the YELLOW package she may change packaging so always check ingreidents and make sure NO SUGAR is in the package.
